Ingredients for Rava Idali Recipe
For four people.
Rava (semolina) – 200 grams or 1 1/2 cup
Curd – 300 grams or 1 1/2 cup
Water – 50 grams or 1/4 cup
Salt – 3/4 tsp
Eno salt – 1/2 tsp
Oil – 1 tablespoon (to smooth the idli stand)
Method of preparation – How to make Rava Idali Recipe
First, beat the curd. Now take semolina in a vessel and add curd to it and mix it well. Add water and salt to it and beat it. Now keep the mixture for 20 minutes. After 20 minutes, add soda to the mixture and mix it well. The mixture should not be too thick and too thin.
Put 2 small glasses of water in the cooker and keep it on the gas, let the water heat up. Grease the idli stand with some oil.
Fill the mixture with the help of a spoon in each idli meal. 12 or 18 idlis are made at a time. It depends on the size of the idli stand. Put the idli stand in the cooker and cover it, but remove the whistle from the lid. Idli can be cooked in 8 or 10 minutes. Open the lid of the cooker (to see if the idli has been made,
make a knife inside the idli and see if it does not stick to the mixture) then take out the idli stand from the cooker, when cool, remove the idli from the stand with the help of a knife. Keep it in a plate.
Idli is ready. Serve and eat them with sambar, coconut chutney, chana dal chutney or peanut chutney.
- Batter for idli is neither too thin nor too thick but idli does not make it spongy.
- After keeping the mixture for 20 minutes, mix it well once more, prepare the idli stand by applying oil and now add eno fruit salt to the mixture, mix it with a spoon as soon as the mixture starts to float.
